Ask Linda™ · Episode 7
The right pre-sale improvements depend on your property and your buyers. Linda explains why smaller changes may matter more than a major renovation.
Focus on improvements that support your sale
Fresh paint, minor repairs, deep cleaning, decluttering and presentation can help a home feel well cared for. The best priorities depend on the home, neighborhood and competing listings.
A pre-listing conversation can help you decide what to do, what to leave alone and where your budget is better spent.
Episode Notes: Which Improvements to Prioritize Before Selling
The best improvements depend on your home, neighborhood, price range, and competing listings. A major renovation is not automatically the best way to prepare.
Often the first items to evaluate are paint, lighting, flooring or carpet condition, landscaping, cleaning, minor repairs, decluttering, and furniture placement. These changes may help a property feel maintained and make its spaces easier to understand.
Buyer expectations also matter. An update that helps one home compete may add little value to another. Review the likely cost and benefit of each project before spending, then focus your budget on the work that best supports your selling plan.
